About me
Nice to meet you, I'm Giuseppe!
I provide coaching and mentoring to students who want to succeed in undergraduate or graduate-level math and theoretical physics. My academic background is a combination of physics and mathematics: I have a PhD in applied mathematics, a master's in theoretical physics, and an undergrad in pure mathematics. Having studied both physics and math (and switched between them a few times), I know what it takes to transition to new fields of study and what kinds of gaps usually need filling.
Since graduating, I have held several teaching roles at the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University. Most recently, I was a PSI Fellow at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, where I taught and supported graduate courses in physics, mentored students (including providing advice on graduate school applications), and co-ran a program to help students who encountered obstacles in their studies or coming from a different field get ready for graduate studies in theoretical physics.
My main areas of expertises are in mathematical physics, with emphasis on geometrical methods and group theory. I focused my academic career on teaching. My goal is to get my students to master topics in math and physics by working together to find the teaching/learning style best suited to them. An example of things that I've done to help my students in the past is making comics to explain difficult topics (which led to a whole series of webcomics!).
In addition to teaching math and physics I'm also an indie game developer and I enjoy making music.
