Hello! I'm Giuseppe, and I offer personalized coaching on a wide range of advanced topics in math and theoretical physics.

My coaching sessions are offered online in English and Italian and are open to anyone, anywhere in the world.

Who is my coaching for?

Well, anyone who wants to learn advanced math and theoretical physics concepts! That said, I specialize in:

Supporting graduate students

Are you a struggling in your graduate courses because your books and/or teachers are very bad at explaining stuff? And the topics are so andvanced that you have no one else you can ask? You're not alone and it's not your fault. I've been there myself in my studies, and I've encountered and helped plenty of students in the same situation.

Together we'll find a way to cover the material in a way that is tailored for your needs, not those of an imaginary student.

Helping students transition to either math or theoretical physics from a different field

I have direct experience with switching fields, as I transitioned to graduate studies in physics from a pure math background. Most importantly, I've supported many students in their endeavour to switch fields, for example from engineering to theoretical physics, and even from completely unrelated backgrounds!

If you're in this situation I can help you indentify and fill your knowledge gaps, by approaching topics of interest without assumptions about previous knowledge, with a learning plan tailored to your background.

I can also provide advice on university applications (deciding where to apply, preparing application material, choosing referees, etc.).

My areas of expertise

My main areas of expertises are in mathematical physics, with emphasis on geometrical methods and group theory. Examples of topics that I am most knowledgeable about are:

This list is not exhaustive, get in touch if what you're interested in is not there!

Rates

My regular rate is CAN$60/hour. As an introductory offer new students will get a discounted rate of CAN$48/hour for their first 10 hours.

My hourly rate is independent of the number of students joining the session, so for example two students getting tutored together would pay CAN$30/hour each (or whichever way to split it makes sense to you).

Let's work together!

Want to learn more about how we can work together? Don’t see exactly what you’re looking for? I’m always happy to answer questions to figure out if my services would be a good fit. Book a free consultation where we can discuss your specific needs!

What previous student think of me

  • During the PSI Bridge and PSI Master's programs at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, I received invaluable guidance from my mentor, Giuseppe. Coming from a small liberal arts college in the U.S., I had gaps in my physics and mathematics knowledge that posed challenges in pursuing theoretical physics.

Giuseppe helped me bridge the gaps by providing advice on planning my academic year, learning new topics, and writing graduate applications. Also, Giuseppe is an expert in mathematical physics: I took his Mathematical Physics course in the PSI Master's program, and I deeply appreciated his clear, accessible explanations of complex concepts. From differential geometry to distributions to complex analysis, his tailored explanations will teach you any topic in whatever depth you wish to delve into! His lecture notes, tutorials, and problem sets are still my go-to resources (they are still some of the primary learning materials in the PSI Bridge and Master's programs!).

Giuseppe is a warm, sincere, understanding, and inspiring mentor, so do not hesitate to ask him for guidance!

  • Giuseppe has an outstanding ability to show the spirit or moral of advanced mathematics and physics concepts. Even in topics that I was previously familiar with, he showed me new ways of thinking about the ideas that deepened my understanding. He backed up all of his explanations with clear calculations that gave me the tools to internalize the same understanding. In times that I struggled he was patient, kind, and met me where I was at. Likewise he was able to recognize and push me when I was ready for a challenge. Thanks to his help I was able to succeed in graduate courses in general relativity later on in my studies.

  • My experience with Giuseppe was nothing but enriching. I had the chance to be his student three years ago, and I can confidently say that his teaching and guidance made a huge impact on my learning and personal growth. He helped me strengthen my background so I could apply to master's programs in theoretical physics.

Giuseppe has an incredible ability to explain complex topics in a way that makes them easy to understand. He has a genuine passion for teaching and always takes the time to ensure his students feel supported. His patience and dedication are unmatched, making every learning experience engaging and insightful.

One of the things I appreciate most about him is his ability to inspire and motivate students. He creates an encouraging atmosphere where you feel comfortable asking questions, regardless of how “dumb” they may sound to you, as well as exploring new ideas. Beyond just academics, he genuinely cares about his students’ success and well-being.

I have no doubt that he will be an amazing mentor. Anyone who has the chance to learn from him will benefit greatly from his knowledge, guidance, and encouragement.
